About

Hire an engineer who
ships the whole thing.

Software engineer and AI engineer in Toronto. I design, build, and run web products end to end, as a full-time engineer or a consultant on a focused build.

Background

I'm Joel, a software engineer in Toronto. For 5+ years I've taken web products from first sketch to production: framing the scope, designing the interface, building the stack, and running what ships.

I've done it end to end with my own products (Church Grid, Moment Gallery, Waveform Apps), so I've owned everything the job actually includes: data model, auth, payments, email, performance, and support.

Whether I'm joining an engineering team or consulting on a build, the deal is the same: calm, considered software that ships, and keeps shipping after launch.

What you get

Three disciplines, one owner.

01

Product & interface

Turn fuzzy goals into flows people understand on the first pass.

  • Product discovery and scope framing
  • Interaction design and design systems
  • Accessible, responsive UI implementation
  • Design-engineering handoff without drift
02

Full-stack delivery

Production software with architecture that stays boring to maintain.

  • React, TypeScript, and TanStack Start / Router
  • API design, data modeling, and server functions
  • Cloudflare Workers and edge-friendly deploys
  • Auth, caching, and performance budgets
03

AI-powered products

Useful AI with clear trust boundaries, not demoware on top.

  • LLM integrations, tools, and retrieval
  • Agent workflows with human-in-the-loop guardrails
  • Evaluation, prompting, and cost/latency tradeoffs
  • Prototypes that graduate to production patterns
